I think a lot of happiness, deals, and relationships do not happen because we are not tuned into opportunities that are always before us.
Even more so, most are not even trying to be an opportunity maker. This is a term that Kare Anderson spoke about in her TED Talk, Be An Opportunity Maker. I would strongly encourage anyone wanting to see how a person of abundance and opportunity thinks to watch it and learn.
I resonated with Kare’s desire to actively search for the next opportunity. She gets us to think more broadly and with aspiration beyond wealth, titles and networks. She is talking about elevating our game to make a difference in our community and world.
I have had the privilege of being around people that think likewise. It energizes me. Something great usually happens. We get connected and possibilities start to open up. With such great people, it only makes sense to keep seeking and being around optimistic and passionate people. People Kare would say are priceless because they are “startling, compelling and credible. You can’t buy that.”
Yes, you can just go through the motions each day. I think that is just mundane living when there are opportunities all around us. If you can see more than what is possible and you can connect people, then you are an opportunity maker. And you change lives.
How can you step into being an opportunity maker?
