I believe to be the definition of successful people is to learn from others, ask for advice and be flexible enough to challenge themselves and grow.
I want to share with you an amazing TedTalk by Linda Hill on “How to Manage For Collective Creativity.” I have learned a great deal from this talk. Linda studies collective genius – the way that companies and great leaders empower creativity from a larger group.
I have to be honest. I had never heard of this type of study, and when I read the topic, I did not read what Linda’s background was so I was pleasantly surprised and completely engaged with her talk.
Here are a few things that stood out to me from this TedTalk:
Innovation is not about being a solo genius.
Be a leader that sets the stage and does not necessarily perform on it. Some of us own a company and some of us are the company, but whether you own a company with as many as 20 employees or just a couple, you can create a space that allows you to share and combine everyone’s talents and passions.
When you unleash those talents and passions among many different people and harness that work, usefully it allows the journey to begin towards great innovation.
How do you do that? Listen to this TedTalk and learn about creative abrasion, creative resolution and creative agility. Let me know what you enjoyed most.
